Caring for Your Wood Turned Items
My gallery pieces are not utilitarian or functional items; these pieces are artistic and can be displayed in a variety of ways such as on a table or shelf. These have been finished in a variety of ways. The majority of which will stand up to prolonged handling, but some may be adversely affected by extensive handling - oils and acids from your skin can sometimes affect the finish. Avoid getting them wet or handling them with wet hands. Items which are obviously very delicate and fragile are not intended for extensive handling and these may have a more delicate finish.
The best method to care for these gallery pieces is simply to keep then dry and dust them with a dry lint-free cloth.
Under no circumstances should proprietary household cleaners or furniture polishes be used as these often contain solvents which can damage the finish on your item.
Under no circumstances should a wood-turned item be left in a sink full of water or put in a dishwasher!
